The Book of Eli Movie Trailer

February 16th, 2010

If you were at the recent release of Orphan, you saw a huge new trailer bursting out at you for The Book of Eli, a January release with lots of star power, including Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis and Denzel Washington. When America, and possibly the world beyond, gets turned into a post-Apocalyptic wasteland, one man fights his way across the blasted plains and blighted landscape to protect a book. But as you’d probably expect, this is no ordinary book. In fact, by all indications, the so-called Book of Eli might be enough to save humanity. Check out the trailer. Apocalypse seems to be all the rage these days, with Fallout 3 still ruling Xbox 360s, the Discovery Channel running The Colony, and the 2012 movie only months away. So are you game for another trip into Post-Apocalyptia, or is the Book of Eli not going to be a best-seller? Hit the comments section below and tell us what you reckon. Thanks for watching! The Book of Eli Cast: Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson, Jennifer Beals, Evan Jones The Book of Eli movie trailer courtesy Warner Bros. Pictures. The Book of Eli opens in US theaters January 15th, 2010. The Book of Eli is directed by Allen Hughes and Albert Hughes.

Get a Cast of Characters to Help You Write A Book

February 14th, 2010

Have you ever sat at your computer or with your writing pad and your mind is blank? The words just won’t come. You had a fantastic plot to write a book but you are stuck. Or maybe you are feeling a small insecure and wonder if you will ever end your book. You start to feel that writing is such a lonely profession.

Fret no more! Did you know that you could have a cast of characters to draw from to help you end your book? With this team you not only will complete your book but it will be the best book you’ve ever written because of the feedback you received while your were writing your book.

To get you started, below is a list of people you can include on your list. This cast can help you write and market your book.

Cast of Characters:

Writing Buddy: This person is awesome. A buddy that agrees to listen to your tale as you write it, question you questions to help you go the tale forward, and agrees to follow up when you make an agreement to end a part of the book by a specific date. Also, gives you support and encouragement.

Book and Publishing Coaches: These experts can save you a lot of time and grief. They know the field and can go you quickly through writing and publishing your book. But it is vital that you are ready to write and commit to this endeavor. Don’t waste your money if you cannot commit some time on a regular weekly basis to write a book.

Cheerleaders: Family, friends, co-workers, clients, and prospects can help you market your book. Question them if they would be willing to tell their friends and customers about your book when the time comes. Or on a casual basis you can tell them how your book is coming along. People like to be in on the beginning of a book thought. They will cheer you on if you let them in on the progress of your book

Interviewer: This is someone who agrees to listen to each chapter thought and then interview you on the chapter topic. Question questions. Once a week you two will work together on a chapter of the book and record the session. Then you can take the recording and use the information in your book.

Researchers: College interns or library assistants can help you with any research you need. For a reasonable fee you can let someone else do this grunt work for you and you will stay on the creative side of writing.

Your Bookstore: Go to the bookstore once in awhile. Search the shelves for books like yours. Buy a book. Sit and have some coffee and delight in the moment. You will feel more like an author every time you go to the bookstore.

Read the Acknowledgement page of books that will be similar to yours. Write down the names of editors and literary agents mentioned in the book. You may want to contact them when part of your book is done. Or question one of your cheerleaders or research people to do this for you.

Reviewers: Make a list of people — no more than five — that are willing to review your book once the manuscript is done. Have a set of questions ready for them to answer — Is there anything that needs more clarification, is the continuity okay, etc. These are the people that review the book before it is in its final stage. You will want to implement some of the suggestions they make in your final draft.

Foreword Expert: Who is going to write the Foreword of your book? Make a list of potential experts. You want a recognized expert in your field if possible. Start collecting names and addresses.

Published Authors or Speakers: Gather the names of published authors and speakers that you meet at conferences and networking events. Question them if you might contact them with questions you might have as you are writing your book. It is vital to keep them informed if they agree because they can also be cheerleaders and marketers for your book.

Testimonials: Every book should have testimonials in it and on the book cover. Start making a list of people you want to give you testimonials for your book. Start a relationship with them as soon as you can. Especially those authors and speakers you have on your list.

Bloggers: Wouldn’t it be nice to have some bloggers write a review of your book in their Blog? Research Blogs for the ones you feel are the best ones to promote your book.

Do your homework, make your lists, and be prepared. You could save hours of writing time and stay on target with your cast of characters. Plus you will have a ready-made team of people who will market and promote your book when it is published. Writing is not such a lonely profession after all. In fact, it’s fun when you have built such a fantastic team that is rooting for your success.

Do U Belong to a Book Club?

February 13th, 2010

A book discussion club is a group of people who meet to discuss a book or books that they have read and express their opinions, likes, dislikes, etc. It is more often called simply a book club.

Traditionally, a book club consists of several members who meet in person each month to talk about a specific book or literature. But, the advent of web forums and email has made it possible for book clubs to exist online. Nowadays book discussion clubs may meet in private homes, libraries, bookstores, online forums, pubs, and in cafes or restaurants over meals or drinks. While both traditional and online book clubs offer readers the opportunity to participate in spirited discussions, each type has its own set of advantages.

In person meeting book clubs offer the benefit of having all members in the same room face to face, which makes for a much more personal and intimate experience. Since most in person meeting book clubs are somewhat small in size, each member typically has more control over what books are selected to read (often members will vote on a list of suggested titles that have been submitted or take turns selecting). At the same time, it is often hard to organize and maintain a book club that meets face to face regularly. In addition to the challenge of recruiting quality members for a book club, a regular meeting time and place may be hard to establish, especially if members have busy schedules. A responsible and experienced moderator is also very hard to find while maintaining such a book club. Also, the small size of the traditional book club typically limits the diversity of views and perspectives that enter into the discussion. There is less number of people and so limited thoughts are shared among themselves.

Online book clubs offer several advantages over the in person meeting group model. Due to the availability of the internet anywhere and everywhere and the variety of book clubs available, readers who turn to the Internet to find a book club delight in a much wider selection of clubs, including many dedicated to a specialized interest or genre. In addition, online book clubs can be more convenient, as many of them are available at any time of day. Of course, there are also disadvantages associated with online book clubs. For instance, the intimacy of a personal discussion is lost, along with the social interaction that is often a part of the traditional book club experience. Few of the non-serious members are added who tend to ruin the ambience of serious and long lasting discussions. There is also a need of a strong and a responsible moderator, who regularly eyes upon the activities of the members and if the need arise, may take an action on the defaulters.

In addition to discussion-oriented book clubs, a book club can also be a place to compare prices, writing previews and reviews and purchasing books. These book clubs offer lot of features like book searching, making your own space and login id, having a specialized shopping cart, price comparison from various vendors and special discount coupons In addition to this they offer fantastic deal for readers who wish to buy several books each year. Many of these are available online, where readers can use the book club’s website to choose their books. One of the America’s most wanted online book club is www.gauchotexts.com. It has all the features you could wish in a book club for comparing prices and ordering books. You will come to know why it’s most wanted only after you login www.gauchotexts.com and give it a try!
